• Nuts Superfood

Fruit/seed of a plant or tree with a hard outer shell.

Almonds, Cashews, Walnuts, Pecans, Peanuts, Pistachio, Pine Nuts, Brazil Nuts, Chestnuts, Coconuts, Macadamia Nuts, Hazelnuts.

Nuts offer protein, vitamins, fiber and beneficial fats that are thought to help protect us from a variety of chronic illnesses.

Eat out of hand for the healthy snack.  But don’t overdo it since the calories will add up!

Toast nuts in one of two ways:

    1. In the oven at 350F degrees for 5-10 minutes until they are fragrant and lightly browned.

    2. In a dry medium hot skillet but constantly stirring/tossing the nuts until they are fragrant and lightly browned.

Toast nuts as you need them for best quality.

    Shelf life and storage:

Nuts are very perishable, give a sniff and if they smell rancid, discard and do not serve.  You can store nuts in the fridge to extend the shelf life or even freeze them- just defrost slowly at room temperature before roasting.
